SEO & Content Strategist - Legal Firm, HubSpot Expert
We are @VirtualCounsel, a tech-enabled corporate law firm providing flexible, business-first legal solutions tailored for startups and small-to-medium businesses (SMBs).
We are seeking a results-driven SEO & Content Marketing Strategist to lead a site-wide SEO overhaul, content optimization strategy, and competitive analysis. This starts as a project-based engagement with the potential to evolve into a fractional CMO role for the right candidate.
Initial Project Scope:
Analyze ~120 existing content pieces (Google Docs) and develop a comprehensive SEO audit & strategy.
Review key competitor websites (we will provide a shortlist) to benchmark SEO performance and identify gaps, opportunities, and best practices.
Optimize supporting pages and 8-9 pillar pages, aligned with our core service categories—this includes SEO copywriting, keyword enrichment, internal linking, and formatting.
Provide SEO recommendations and polished edits for the entire website.
Implement technical SEO best practices within Webflow (tags, metadata, internal linking, site structure improvements).
Set up Google Analytics and SEO performance tracking and reporting through HubSpot (preferred) or other tool as recommended.
Deliverables: precise, polished SEO-optimized copy for every page, organized in Google Docs, ready for handoff or direct implementation in Webflow.
Potential Ongoing Work:
Develop a repeatable process + strategy for ongoing SEO-friendly content development.
Build and manage a content calendar for LinkedIn, X, YouTube, and potentially other platforms.
Design and execute a weekly email newsletter strategy with a 6-12 month content calendar using HubSpot or alternative tools.
Build and deploy email marketing campaigns (nurture + cold outreach), including cold campaigns using alternative domains and tools.
Manage LinkedIn marketing campaigns using LaGrowthMachine.
Collaborate on sales and marketing collateral (PDFs, downloadable guides, pitch decks, clickable funnel assets). Creative design skills are a strong bonus, but not required—you should be able to source/manage third parties as needed.
Requirements:
Proven SEO expertise, especially in the legal, consulting, or B2B services industries (bonus points for niche experience).
Strong copywriting and editing skills for web, long-form content, and social content.
Demonstrated ability to conduct competitive SEO analysis (benchmarking, keyword gap reporting, strategy insights).
Proficiency with HubSpot and Webflow.
Familiarity with content and campaign management across social media + email.
Ability to create or manage the creation of well-designed sales/marketing materials.
Bonus: Experience with YouTube content scripting/editing or managing video editors/creators.
✅ Comfortable communicating via Slack and managing projects via Basecamp.
Compensation:
💵 For the paid test project:
We are budgeting ~$250–$300, with flexibility based on your experience and the value you can bring (bonus offered for Webflow implementation).
💼 For the full engagement:
We anticipate a budget range of $2,250–$4,000, structured around clear deliverables and milestones. We’re open to discussing your rates and ideal payment structure.
🚀 We value long-term partnerships and are especially interested in finding someone who can grow with us into a fractional CMO-type role if there’s a mutual fit. Strong performance on the test project can lead to significant future work.
