Middle-Grade Horror Series Website Designer
Hi there! I’m Tania, the author and creator of SCAREMOOR (amazon.com/dp/B0DKLDSJBC?binding=kindle_edition&searchxofy=true&ref_=dbs_s_aps_series_rwt_tkin&qid=1745420709&sr=8-3) —a creepy, cinematic middle-grade horror series for brave readers ages 8–12. I’m looking for a talented designer/developer to create a custom author + book series website that reflects the eerie, immersive world of Scaremoor.
This site should feel like the digital version of walking into a haunted school hallway, mysterious forest, or cursed attic—creepy, age-appropriate, immersive, and beautifully built. Think Goosebumps meets Stranger Things, but for kids.
I own Scaremoor.com and have the branding, story universe, and audience goals mapped out. I need a creative partner to bring it to life.
📚 About SCAREMOOR:
Scaremoor is a growing universe of spooky short stories and full-length books—each rooted in emotional realism, strange happenings, and psychological chills. Everything is age-appropriate, atmospheric, and high-interest for reluctant readers.
Books include:
The Forgotten Door (free lead magnet)
The Haunted Locker
The Phantom Playground
The Night of the Living Vines
The Changing Portrait (coming soon)
The Vanishing Words (being written)
...and more...
What I Need:
- Homepage
Tagline, intro, moody art or animation
“Read a Free Story” CTA button
Subtle movement or atmospheric effects (fog, flicker, etc.)
Floating or parallax fog
- Lead Magnet Landing Page
Promo for free short story (PDF + ePub)
Email signup (I use ConvertKit/Kit)
- Books Page
Grid of all current & future titles
Cover images + descriptions
“Read More” or “Buy” links
- About the Author Page
Short, quirky, spooky-fun author bio
Optional headshot or illustrated avatar
- Join the Club Page
Invite readers to sign up for exclusive extras
Future freebies: sneak peeks, wallpapers, secret stories
- Footer
IG + FB icons, email opt-in, eerie quote, copyright
Design Inspiration:
Visual style:
Moody, storybook-meets-cinematic
Fog, flickering light, mysterious glows
Think: a haunted locker with a glowing crack, not a horror movie poster
Example site vibe I like:
taylortyng.com – playful, clean, scrollable—but mine should feel eerier (home page only, the rest is bland)
Colors:
Deep purples, forest greens, bone white, candlelight yellow, foggy teal
Fonts:
Clean for body (open sans), something fun for headings (see attachements)
Platform & Tech
Preferred: Webflow, WordPress, or a clean custom site with CMS/easy updating. I’m a retired developer but don’t want to build this one myself—I want something beautiful and ready to go, with clean code, good SEO structure, and mobile responsiveness.
I use ConvertKit (Kit) for email and can provide embed code.
